Android Slipping A Week.

by Ron Gilbert
Oct 02, 2017

The bad news is we're slipping the Android version by a week, from the 3rd to the 10th of October.  The good news is the Android build will fully support controllers, mouse and keyboard, plus a wider range of hardware.

Android is always hard due to the vast array of devices. As we got to the end of testing, a few devices showed up with GPU issues that we felt needed to be fixed. We're committed to having the Android version work with controllers, plus mouse and keyboard and it's taken longer than we wanted to get it working.

It's also hard when a version or game slips, it often feels like you failed. It's only a week and we'll have more compatibility, plus controllers and mouse and keyboard.

Have I mention controllers and mouse and keyboard? Yes, we'll have them.

- Ron

vegetaman - Oct 02, 2017 at 13:46
It takes a lot of work to cover every device under the sun with so many permutations of hardware out there -- best of luck to you guys!

Paul Jacobson - Oct 02, 2017 at 13:46
the market for android devices is more fragmented than that asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs!

we'll done for getting through it without losing your mind :))

Isaac Serna - Oct 02, 2017 at 13:48

Joe - Oct 02, 2017 at 15:54
Controllers, mouse, and keyboard support is great, but what about touchscreen? :)

Jonny - Oct 02, 2017 at 18:42
That’s another week lost making great adventure games for working platforms.

Rohit Bhatia - Oct 02, 2017 at 20:08
We want to good stable Android version of the game. Delay it if you need more time. We will need more polished game then a rushed port.

Bogdan Barbu - Oct 02, 2017 at 21:59
Yes, but will it support controllers? What about mice and keyboard?

Nor Treblig - Oct 03, 2017 at 06:44
Of course it will have controller, mouse and keyboard support... for navigating the menu and searching, finding and selecting all those viable options!

Oh, those controls won't work outside the menu, but I'm sure there will be a paid DLC soon :-)

Big Red Button - Oct 03, 2017 at 07:39
Sounds very promising!

What a pity that I don't have the Play Store installed. Though, I have my principles in terms of Google.

Torsten - Oct 03, 2017 at 09:55
Hey,

will there be a possibility to exchange savegames between the Android version and the Steam version? That would be great! :)

Greetings
Torsten

Miguel - Oct 03, 2017 at 11:04
It was mentioned that building a Raspberry Pi port would share most of the challenges that the Android version had (limited memory, etc...). Will there be a serendipitous version for Raspberry Pi?

Boris - Oct 03, 2017 at 12:55
Hmm why you werent using SCUMM (through) SCUMMvm forvthe devices.
Anyway ima already now happy ... after waiting nearly two decades one week more or less doesnt matter...

Zak Phoenix McKracken - Oct 10, 2017 at 11:11

DayOfTheJoy - Oct 10, 2017 at 17:36
Just had to comment...looove the game☺️
Keep making the good old point and click games. Been destroyed the last few decades...and haven't had this much fun since monkey island (the first 2), day of the tentacle, full throttle and all those others....hand of fate, indiana jones +++. This game puts it right back on track. The graphics and fun the way it is meant to be....Thank you...and get your bum in high gear and make some more😀

Lizard - Oct 11, 2017 at 12:59
Thanks for the android release!
Is there a reason the android version is not compatible with the Nvidia Shield console?
That would be a perfect machine to play on it.

Ron Gilbert - Oct 11, 2017 at 13:03
It will be very soon.
