Welcome to the Thimbleweed Park Development Diary. If anyone in the gaming press had bothered to mention it, I'm sure it would have been voted most anticipated development diary of 2015. But no one did. I'm not bitter.
Thanks again to everyone who supported our Kickstarter. Even if you couldn't be a backer, your tweets and kind thoughts were enough. 2015 is going to be a magical year for Gary and I. Working together again on a point & click adventure is an odd dream come true.
See, I'm not bitter.
Yet.
The plan is for myself, Gary and (eventually) other team members to post here at least every Monday for the duration of the project. We'll take you through what we're working on, decisions we're making, get your feedback, and talk about any issues we're dealing with.
We'll have (non-spoiler) test builds for people to download, try out the UI and generally stress the tech.
Our plan is to spend the next 4 months finalizing the design, wrapping up loose ends of the story, story boarding all the rooms, and getting the engine in shape. Come May 1st, we'll start full production of the game.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be talking a lot about the engine and our tech plans.
Welcome aboard.
Great to read the news. Will be waiting every mondays for those updates. :)
Glad to be part of the project.
And... Happy New Year!
that is insane but it should be interesting
(I've nothing against it)
As I've expressed over Twitter some weeks ago, I'm available to translate all text (for free) into Portuguese (pt_PT).
Feel free to contact me privatly about it.
If I could help in some way, I'll do with pleasure!
SEE YA!â„¢
happy 2015 all btw =)
I wanna my absolution for pirating Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. Wouldn't be any chance to get it in paper?
I want to be sure that I've got your gorgiveness hahahahahaha. Not, really, I'd be great to get it in paper. If not, don't worry. This is only part of my enthusiasm.
Hope we have a Terrible Toybox animation logo with the characters of the game and hilarious credits :)
Can't wait to read all the dirty details...
Happy 2015!
I'm also excited to share this with my son who is 6. I need to pull out my old copies of Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken to play with him.
All the best for 2015 :-). Have fun with creating your little epic. Any chance of it including iMuse ;-)?
Cheers
Patrick
so good luck for 2015 and have fun while programming and testing the game.
regards
Dirk
looking forward reading about your progress, and of course playing the game some day

Awesome, this initiative. Can't wait to beta test. We've met in Amsterdam years ago in front of "The Bulldog" (if I recall correctly), sipping wine and talking about WoW ;). I recall exchanging ideas back then even to revive P&C adventure games. Glad to seeing that coming off the ground after so many years. I don't anyone expected this (the real deal) to happen. Thank you for being awesome.
Anyway, I have had my own studio called Abstraction Games for 7 years now and just wanted you to know if there's ever any need for tech support on any platform please don't hesitate to reach out on @AbstractionGame of @ralphegas for help / advice, the free kind.
Good luck on your quest!
Cheers,
Ralph
Knock 'em dead guys, show the punks what gaming geezers can do!
So excited about this!
I was wondering if those of use who helped fund the game will get their names in the games credits under a kickstarter heading or something.
Just an idea :)
Have a wonderful day!
Thanks a lot for all the SCUMMs games.
looking forward to the new game!
Thanks so much for this! That you follow through on this plan and idea is not only just gonna be a sweet spot in "future history", it's going to be a blast to play this, and I look forward to this amazing feeling I've had when I first played Maniac Mansion! And no I'm not using tinted glasses or a pedestal. We know what this is all about. :)
Thanks,
Ian

This post makes me very sad indeed. I just learnt about this project here: http://www.adventuregamers.com/hypeometer/view/27773, by sheer luck. I won't say that I avidly read all game news sources, but I would have expected to bump into it, one way or another. Well, I am happy that the project has succeeded, and I am sure it will pick up and not go unnoticed in the coming months.
But I just wanted to say thank you for your courage and your passion: I doubt that there are many people who have been in the industry for over 30 years that would sit down and write game engines by themselves.
Thank you for the exemption from piracy (although now I got all the big boxes on my shelf). I can ensure you that now not only conspiracy is the only piracy what I don't like! :D
