Carlo Valenti - May 06, 2016 at 09:33
Good work, guys!

Tom - May 06, 2016 at 10:19
Good. That means your team is coding and animating instead of communicating with the outside world. Hope we never hear from you again (not really :-).

Mattias Cedervall - May 06, 2016 at 10:24
I was hoping we could get to hear the one or two that was recorded, but wasn't released.

Bogdan Barbu - May 06, 2016 at 11:20
Ron explained it in the previous post. There is no more money to make the game. There isn't any left to even write a blog post. Sorry, guys. Let's all go home.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 09, 2016 at 08:17
Let's donate more money! :-P

rantsome - May 09, 2016 at 08:33
NOOO. GIVE MY MONEY BACK. WHAT A SCAM! I WOULD RATHER GIVE MY MONEY TO STAR CITIZEN THAN TO THIS PIXELHOLE. AND WHAT SUCKS THE MOST, ALL PEOPLE HERE ARE WAY TOO NICE TO EACH OTHER. DISGUSTING :P

Michael - May 06, 2016 at 11:32
Well Shit!!!!
I guess I will just have to make old rotten turkey sandwiches until a new one shows up.

Mcdrake - May 06, 2016 at 11:57
ok

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 06, 2016 at 12:01
"nt" ?

Nor Treblig?!
Is that you?

urielz - May 06, 2016 at 15:28
or "not true"?

Caspar - May 06, 2016 at 15:33
no time, I guess....

pif - May 08, 2016 at 17:12
nice try

Nor Treblig - May 06, 2016 at 16:11
*No podcast for you! Come back one week!*

(btw. "nt" stands for "no text")

longuist - May 08, 2016 at 06:47
"new technology". Ronbot is a bit tight-lipped though :P

nibble - May 08, 2016 at 05:17
"next time"

Gffp - May 08, 2016 at 10:19
What if it's "Now Tanning"?

Nor Treblig - May 08, 2016 at 16:44
What if there is no "what if"?

Rob Osinga - May 11, 2016 at 01:40
Not today.

Rob Osinga - May 11, 2016 at 01:42
Or it's naughty tentacle

Derrick Reisdorf - May 13, 2016 at 14:46
Ron is developing the game for Windows NT?

Brian Small - May 06, 2016 at 12:21
Good decision, Ron. (not that you need my affirmation, though).  I support your efforts to focus on the game.

Carlo Valenti - May 06, 2016 at 17:32
Actually, I've seen them all eating insane quantities of burritos, picking their noses and screaming loud in the street at two o'clock in the morning.
Now call it focus.

Brian Small - May 06, 2016 at 17:46
I believe that falls into the "Ransome character research" game development category.

Alessander - May 06, 2016 at 14:56

EdoBvd - May 06, 2016 at 15:21
I guess, we'll have to put back some old podcasts bit and pieces together and make a new one to satisfy our appetite.

urielz - May 06, 2016 at 15:27
NO podcast and NO wallpaper? What's wrong with world?!

Alessander - May 06, 2016 at 15:41
Think of the children!

Carlo Valenti - May 06, 2016 at 17:20
This one really made me laugh! :D

Tuna Heads inc. - May 07, 2016 at 06:58
so why don't you take care of it?

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 06, 2016 at 17:46
Oh well... I have a fake podcast left, as soon as my co-worker feels better, there will be a podcast this week...

Asprine - May 07, 2016 at 13:02
Perfect!
Better down tune all the blogging and podcasting then cutting pieces of the game.

Ron Gilbert current status (From Twitter):
https://t.co/OU7ofxeA6d

Totally Rightful Relax...

Ema - May 09, 2016 at 09:39
He's actually working. That's not a picture. It is art from Mark Ferrari. It's Reyes and Rey's honeymoon. In the end, they fall in love, they break ransome's course and so the Blue Fairy transforms them into real people in a real, unpixelated world.

Sorry if I forgot the spoiler warning.

Ema - May 09, 2016 at 11:58
"Curse", not "course". Of course.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 10, 2016 at 09:36
Oh, the site is up again!!! Phew!!!

Nor Treblig - May 10, 2016 at 10:47
The database is alive again! Wohoo!

Ron Gilbert - May 10, 2016 at 10:50
I have no idea what was happening.  I rebooted the several and all was well. Thanks for the heads up.

Brian Small - May 10, 2016 at 11:14
Weird.  I guess you were right, Zak (per your tweet) - the culprit really is a new puzzle.

Someone - May 10, 2016 at 13:27

longuist - May 10, 2016 at 22:53
But you can't upload photos here...
There seemed to be a connection issue with the mongo database.

localhost:27017: Connection refused

and after a while

Previous connection attempts failed, server blacklisted

Was there something updated recently?

Someone - May 11, 2016 at 04:56
Yes, you can't upload photos. But Wordpress uses ImageMagick in a number of cases. And I'm not sure how the Gravatar pics are handled.

urielz - May 10, 2016 at 21:11
phew… I was fearing the worst. No podcast and then the website is down… it could only meant that the rumors were true: Ron and Gary fled with a shiny new boat (https://t.co/OU7ofxeA6d) to Booty Island with TP money!

Christopher Griffin - May 13, 2016 at 10:05
I laughed at this, because you said "Booty Island" with "TP Money", I can only presume that this level of genius was intentional. :D

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 10, 2016 at 12:55
Broken Age: completed!
Play time: 15 hours and 50 minutes. Not too long, but I found some good, original and hilaroius puzzles. The story also is fine. Nay, it's double fine!

Nor Treblig - May 10, 2016 at 19:43
Awesome!

Brian Bagnall - May 11, 2016 at 23:27
Backed it, played it. Good but I'm expecting more out of Thimbleweed than Broken Age. Tim is but the student...

Carlo Valenti - May 10, 2016 at 19:06
testing testing testing
Mary had a little lamb

Nor Treblig - May 10, 2016 at 19:44
Any proof?

Carlo Valenti - May 11, 2016 at 06:36
No, you can trust me or not. Your choice.

Nor Treblig - May 11, 2016 at 15:59
Maybe I can trust you, but can I trust Mary?

Ema - May 11, 2016 at 16:16
Maybe you can trust Mary.
The question is: can you trust the lamb?

Nor Treblig - May 11, 2016 at 17:47
Hard to tell, not all of them are snitches, some stay silent.

Ema - May 14, 2016 at 05:21
That must be that "silence of the lambs" I've always heard of.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 10, 2016 at 20:38
Up again. Well it's 2:37 A.M.
Good night to this part of the globe, good afternoon to the other part!

urielz - May 10, 2016 at 21:14
Good night Zak. Hope you have good dreams :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz2UH1BPpIA

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 11, 2016 at 03:04
Wow, what a dream! :-)
I already knew that great video, but thanks for sharing!

Professor Farnsworth - May 11, 2016 at 13:03
Good news, everyone!

Naughty Dog pays a nice little hommage to Guybrush Threepwood in Uncharted 4.

Mattias Cedervall - May 14, 2016 at 21:08
That is good news. :-)

Arto - May 11, 2016 at 14:02
Wow. 51 comments in 5 days for a post with no real content and a typo in headline no one has mentioned :)

Nor Treblig - May 11, 2016 at 16:15
You are right, never saw that typo until now.
And hey, there are still speculations going on what that non-content means!

Sushi - May 11, 2016 at 16:35
I saw the typo too. But I guess Ron had "No Time" to fix the "Nutty Typo" as it would probably "Never Turn" up  noticed anyway, except by some "Nerdy Teacher" with a "Natural Tendency" to read way too much "iNTo" things.

no idea what that nt stands for either
;)

Bogdan Barbu - May 11, 2016 at 16:56
We've all accepted that Ron is slightly dyslexic.

urielz - May 12, 2016 at 00:29
Yeah, now I want this to be the most commented post in the blog... just to ponder about what it would mean.

Nor Treblig - May 12, 2016 at 10:26
Well, only 974 comments to go...

Arto - May 12, 2016 at 14:58
Oh, "nonchalant typo" is fixed. "No typo", "not tonight".

Brian Small - May 11, 2016 at 16:54
Nice. Touché.   Now, try not to nullify the next typo.

Brian Small - May 11, 2016 at 16:56
Oops, that was supposed to be a reply to Sushi.

Carlo Valenti - May 12, 2016 at 01:17
NTNtntntnt! Great!

Brian Small - May 12, 2016 at 14:21
Numerous thanks.

Carlo Valenti - May 12, 2016 at 16:55
Not any tune to note, no, tonite. No tuna, too, into "Neat Nathan" toon.

longuist - May 11, 2016 at 18:05
Oh no, why this change? "No Podcast The Week" was much better!
And as always, make it an option! (To turn on typos in the game) :P

urielz - May 12, 2016 at 00:25
Totally agree with you. First they changed they game's font and now THIS!

Ema - May 13, 2016 at 12:45
Make it an option! :-D wonderful

Zombocast - May 11, 2016 at 23:36
Didn't know if Ron was coming back.. so I made my own Thimbleweed Park.

Sorry, no blackjack and hookers.. and bodies in ditches.

Nor Treblig - May 12, 2016 at 10:24
Hm, it just doesn't look right. You should really add more bodies.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 12, 2016 at 11:04
...bloated and pixelated from decay of a death come too soon.

longuist - May 14, 2016 at 10:28
Some people may prefer it this way :P

Soren Bojesen - May 12, 2016 at 02:37
Maybe the lack of interest from the creators in this blog is that I have a friend, that knows a guy, whose wife's brother's dad saw two guys wearing sun glasses exiting a bank in Panama.
But luckily it has nothing to do with Ron and Gary, because those two guys were clearly farmers because they were only talking about some kind of weed......

LogicDeLuxe - May 12, 2016 at 05:08
Can we see some schedule update?
Are the scripts finalized. How much music is recorded? How much voice acting is recorded? How much animations are done? And for what is not done yet, when is it scheduled?
No rush intended, of course. Just to give some idea how the game is progressing.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 12, 2016 at 06:29
As far as I know, there are neverending animations.
The imperative is: "Animations, and more animations!"
So, as far as there are money, there will be animations and more animations!
:-)

Paulup - May 12, 2016 at 08:32
I seem to remember them saying in a podcast or somewhere that the script gets locked as late as possible, so that they can tinker with the dialog, etc. for as long as possible...
And I think they said voice acting is recorded in the final month or something like that, once the entire script is locked and will not change...

Tom - May 12, 2016 at 10:33
If Ron's team is toast due to large number of game conventions maybe they can hire Tim Schafer. I understand he has some experience with point and click games. :-)

Sally - May 13, 2016 at 11:40
I'm not sure Tim knows much about point & click adventures.  All his games have great writing, but really bad puzzles. DotT was good, but he co-designed that with Dave Grossman (despite Tim taking most the credit during the remastered edition). If you step out of the Tim hype-zone, you'll see every game since has been weak at best.

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 13, 2016 at 05:10
I have found a hidden Maniac Mansion ending!
Want to see?

(Thanks to Decaffeinated Jedi - @decafjedi on Twitter)

Arto - May 14, 2016 at 08:19
That's a loooooong corridor. I'm going to watch this through to see how it ends.

Mattias Cedervall - May 14, 2016 at 21:04
The best ending! :-)

Carlo Valenti - May 13, 2016 at 13:37
*NO PODCAST THE WEEK EITHER*
*TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND GO TO SLEEP*

Ron Gilbert - May 13, 2016 at 14:37
There will be a podcast this week.

Carlo Valenti - May 13, 2016 at 15:02
Ha! I was hoping for such a reply! Thank you!

Brian Small - May 13, 2016 at 15:10
Excellent!  I'll have a shiny new TWP podcast in addition to the audiobook of Ernie Cline's Armada (read by Will Wheaton) to keep me company on my training run this weekend!

urielz - May 13, 2016 at 22:33
Podcast this week? Then make it raw Mr. Gilbert, just straight of the mic, no cuts, no edits, we want the whole thing. Save yourself the time.

Peter Campbell - May 14, 2016 at 00:57
Don't you mean "There won't be no podcast this week."?  :-D

Gffp - May 13, 2016 at 17:14
8bit art + point 'n'click! Look at this (if you didn't know already) http://andrewscaife.tumblr.com/
Talk to Laura Palmer... it sounds familiar...

Paulup - May 13, 2016 at 19:03
Man, those are so good! But they also make me a little sad because I want them all to be real games!

urielz - May 13, 2016 at 22:34
Thanks for sharing this Gffp, pretty awesome work. Brings back so many memories  :)

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 14, 2016 at 01:44
San Gennaro! This is awesome!!

Big Red Button - May 14, 2016 at 08:24
The reflections on the floor and the grain on the cupboard beneath the TV are nice.

The fonts are obviously from LeChuck's revenge.

Mattias Cedervall - May 14, 2016 at 21:04
That's very nice! I haven't seen that before. Thank you for the link! :-)

Orcan Ogetbil - May 13, 2016 at 20:50
nt most likely comes from Windows NT... which means "not today"

Gffp - May 14, 2016 at 10:10
I was thinking about this thing since I played my first point'n'click adventure with voices.
Only now I realize and focus well about it.
When I played the old adventures without voices, I knew some of the sentences were spoken, other were thoughts from the character's mind.
Why dub the thoughts?
I know that Thimbleweed Team could answer me: the character is speaking to you, the gamer. Dont'you remember when Guybrush turned to the screen and looked at you gamer, like he was on a stage of a teather? Yes, I know.
But I, the gamer, am directly involved in the plot, I read the screenplay, I decide what to say, so... since I read it, why the character has to say, in front of another character something like "He's ugly and has a horrible breath" and I have to expect that the other character doesn't listen since it was just a thought? I read his mind, the writer gave me the screenplay.
I always felt there was something strange.

I always felt my relationship with the adventure game's characters as if I was the spectator and the master of puppets at the same time.

And after that, Ron and Gary decided to close the blog due to the reached amount of useless comments.

Nor Treblig - May 14, 2016 at 18:00
I've never really thought about it when playing those type of games. I'm not sure if I see me as spectator or I start to think I'm actually the playable character.
I think for me it's more the latter (i.e. talking to me means it happens only in our "shared mind" and other characters don't "hear" it).

But independent from this the thoughts need to be voiced nonetheless. The game should to be playable without any subtitles displayed (voice only), and vice versa.
Note: This may be also important for people with bad eyesight.

Gffp - May 15, 2016 at 04:51
Yes Nor, you understood me very well, probably it's the same for me, I also partially  identify with the playable character, so it's like he share his thoughts. You're right, thoughts dubbed have undoubtedly their good reasons. It could be interesting, anyway, someday who knows, to experience a gameplay without dubbed thoughts due to distinctiveness of graphic adventure games as hybrid media.

Nor Treblig - May 15, 2016 at 15:50
I do wonder how I handle games with multiple characters (like MM, DOTT, The Cave [single player], TWP). Next time I play such game I try to observe this.
(My guess is I'm schizophrenic enough to be everyone of the playable characters)

Zak Phoenix McKracken - May 14, 2016 at 17:02
It's almost time...

Carlo Valenti - May 14, 2016 at 18:23
Yep
